45th ANNUAL SNAKE ALLEY ART FAIR

INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS
* ALL Artists will be juried this year.
* Artists may exhibit only in the categories in which
they are juried.
* Artists must be present with their work for the
entire Fair day. Representatives may
not attend in place of the artists.
IMPORTANT 2012 DATES AND DEADLINES
* April 13–Postmark deadline for application, fees,
and images.
* May 4–Notification of the jury acceptance or
rejection.
* May 31–Last date to cancel without forfeiting booth
fee.
A no call, no show exhibitor will be ineligible for
future fairs. Your application is a commitment
"to show".
ELIGIBLE WORKS - ONLY ORIGINAL ART
* Paintings, drawings, photography.* Prints - label with method of reproduction and
edition numbers.
* Select traditional and contemporary handcrafts.
WORKS NOT ELIGIBLE
* Copies of others’ paintings.* Ceramics from commercial molds.
* Commercially fabricated jewelry–items from kits.
SAAF Committee reserves the right to remove works
not in compliance with rules.
ARTIST APPLICATION PROCESS
* Submit attached application form.* Submit three images that represent your works in a
.jpeg format, on a C.D.
Clearly label with name, medium, typical size and
price.
* Include a separate check to the Art Guild for the
non-refundable jurying fee of $15.
* Include check for booth fee.
* Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for
response to application.
* Mail to Art Guild of Burlington, 301 Jefferson,
Burlington, IA 52601, ATTN: SAAF.,
* Images may also be e-mailed to
snakealley2012@hotmail.com, though we prefer
to receive all materials together via U. S.
Postal Service.
FEES**
* $15 non-refundable jury fee.* $70 one booth space fee.
* $60 one booth fee for Art Guild members.
* Booth fees will be refunded for artists not accepted.
* PLEASE MAKE SEPARATE CHECKS FOR JURYING
AND BOOTH FEES.
** NOTE: 10% OF GROSS SALES MINUS BOOTH FEE
WILL BE REQUIRED AT CHECKOUT AT END OF
FAIR TO HELP IMPLEMENT AN EXPANDED
PROMOTION FOR THE EVENT.
THIS IS A CHANGE FROM RECENT FAIR PROCEDURE.
SALES TAX
* All sales subject to 7% sales tax. Exhibitors willbe given a temporary form for required
reporting to the State of Iowa.
SET-UP AND DISPLAY
* Set up between 6 and 8 a.m. Fair 8 am to 4 pmand checkout time for artists and vendors
does not begin until 4:00 p.m.
* Spaces on Snake Alley – 12’ by 8’ deep (curb to
front).
* Spaces on North 6th from Columbia to High – 12’
wide by 10’ deep.
* Space assignments and detailed display and set-up
instruction included with acceptance letter.
Art Guild discretion will be used in assigning spaces.
* Canopies are recommended, but cannot be staked
and must not exceed space size.
* Sensitivity to the historic neighborhood of the
Fair and respect for adjacent
private properties are much appreciated.
WEATHER
* This is an outdoor event and will be held atSnake Alley rain or shine.
AWARDS
* In celebration of the 45th year of Snake AlleyArt Fair, there will be 13 Media Category
Awards of $45 each. Special anniversary
ribbons will be given for “Best display”,
“Peoples Choices”, and Best Demonstration"
awards.
